Fear of Sentinelese and a missionary.

Lets get straight into this matter where on  17th Nov, a American citizen named John Allen Chau was killed by tribals of sentinel island of Andaman and Nicobar,India. Tribals used bow and arrow to kill him.

Chau went their with mission to spread word of God Jesus and to convert tribals to Christianity. He has with him a waterproof bible and with the help of local fishermen, illegally entered the island which was protected by Indian government.
And there is large section of people back home calling him a religious martyr whereas many are condemning the irresponsible act of Chau for entering the restricted  region.

WHY TRIBALS KILLED HIM?

We don't have any clue to why they killed him but lets see history of tribals interacting with outsiders.

1) Sentinelese are described as "uncontacted' but this is not strictly true. They has significantly contact in 1880 with commonder Portman. Portman was given job to administer and pacify Andaman islands by  English Royal Navy. In 1880,he landed North sentinel island along with his team, the natives fled and his team went inland to look for their settlements abandoned in haste. They abducted an elderly couple and few children. Elderly couple died of disease to which they had no immunity.
Children spent few weeks with Portman doing god knows what after which he returned them to island.Story of the children was certainly passed among other inhabitants of islands.

2) So when the Indian govt attempted contact with anthropologists in the 1960s and 1970s, the sentinelese were understandably hostile to outsiders. The Indian govt then decide not to interfere in their territory.

3) In the 1990s, anthropologists made a new attempt to contact Sentinelese .The attitude of tribals is no different but they were willing to accept gifts .But after few minutes, they make menacing gestures signaling outsiders to leave the island.
Here is footages of meeting:

4)And they remained consistent in their tolerance against intruders. In 2006,two fishermen were killed after drifting into the island when their anchor detached while they are sleeping.

Many peoples calling them as uncivilized and savages for killing missionary Chau.

Let me tell you their aggressiveness is not the mark of savagery. It just their conception of outsiders is mostly framed by some English pervert who murdered some old people and did weird things to their kids.Don't you think they have grandma and grandpa to pass on this tragic incident to new one?

NO IMMUNITY TO MODERN DISEASE

Also,it is known fact that small, isolated populations typically don't have genetic diversity in that they have very similar DNA and alleles so if they are exposed to disease which they don't have natural immunity to have individuals survive and reproduce. Even a sneeze of the missionary can possible led to deaths of these inhabitants. They literally have no immunity to modern diseases. Therefore,we should let them alone  as they want.

The Sentinelese are luckily effective at preventing contact unlike Jawara who weren't that fortunate and their tribe went from 9000 to couple hundred from lack of genetic immunity. Yet Sentinelese have maintained a small community for 60,000 years and there is no way to integrate them into the modern world.

CHRISTIAN EVANGELISM AND DESTRUCTION OF NATIVE CULTURES

Christianity exclusivity theological idea of "My way or highway" has been responsible for destroying like Ancient west and East European cultures,North African and Mesopotamian cultures.Later on,during the colonial era(from the 15th century onwards), Christian missions successfully converted Filipino culture, and in a particularly aggressive and systematic way they wiped out indigenous American cultures. Since the 19th century, they have successfully conquered African cultures. Both in the colonial era and the 19th century, they also targeted East Asian cultures, but they largely failed to conquer them (except Korea, where, with the support of the royal court and the later military regimes in the south, a large part of the population was coaxed into Christianity; and some small ethnic groups throughout East Asia and India).

There is an international plot has been going on under the "Joshua project" to convert Indian subcontinent to Christianity by disregarding local cultures, proselytizing the poor and tribals.

I am not supporting the killing of anyone but an ideology which profess Chau to forced his religious beliefs on others shows xenophobia and racism towards other cultures. And in a statement after Chau failed in first attempt of conversion,he called island "land of Satan" which shows how supremacist he was and illegally entered the restricted island by bribing few fishermen breaking govt law. Therefore,it is not wrong to say that he was a genocidal bigot not a religious martyr.
